Soroti, Uganda – A night of entertainment turned chaotic during the Yonna Chanlee concert after a physical altercation involving legendary artist Paul Ikwap, popularly known as Mark P, and TikTok sensation Jesca Auma, widely known as Teso Gal.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred when Teso Gal, who was live-streaming the event and seated at the edge of the stage while charging her phone, was confronted by members of Mark P’s security team. The bouncers allegedly attempted to remove her from the stage and reportedly tried to destroy her phone, triggering panic and confusion among attendees.
The confrontation escalated quickly, bringing the show to an abrupt halt for several minutes. In an attempt to defend Teso Gal, renowned blogger Mr. Odeke rushed onto the stage but was forcefully thrown down by security personnel.
The incident sparked outrage from members of the Teso bloggers’ community, who condemned Mark P’s team for what they described as unprofessional and aggressive behavior. They argued that artists of Mark P’s caliber should be role models, especially for up-and-coming talents.
Several bloggers also reported losing personal items during the scuffle. Mr. Erasmus of Teso Media Group claimed his tripod was destroyed in the chaos, while Nathan Eyagu of Teso Vibes reported losing UGX 50,000 during the fracas.
Bloggers and fans alike are calling for accountability and an official statement from Mark P’s team. Many believe the incident sets a poor example for the region’s entertainment industry and undermines efforts to foster unity and professionalism among creatives.
As of now, Mark P and his management have yet to issue a public response regarding the incident.
