Adoa Calls for Peaceful Campaigns: “No Attacks, No Poster Destruction in Serere”

Kateta, Serere District – The State Minister for Fisheries and Serere District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Hellen Adoa, has once again underscored her steadfast commitment to improving the wellbeing of families across the district as she pushes forward with her 2026 campaign activities.

While addressing enthusiastic crowds in Kateta Sub-county, Hon. Adoa assured residents that her development agenda remains centered on community empowerment, growth of the fisheries sector, and the promotion of peaceful democratic participation.

Championing Household Empowerment

Speaking during her community engagement, the Minister reiterated that her long-standing mission is to uplift households through strategic government programs and practical economic initiatives.

I come before you with a heart committed to service. My pledge is to continue improving your livelihoods by ensuring that government programs reach you, support your families, and open new pathways for income generation,” she told voters.

Hon. Adoa noted that Serere, like many rural districts, still grapples with challenges such as poverty, youth unemployment, and limited livelihood opportunities. She emphasized that these issues require targeted interventions that create sustainable change.

Boosting the Fisheries Sector

In her capacity as State Minister for Fisheries, she highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the fisheries value chain, particularly for districts around Lakes Kyoga and Victoria.

Hon. Adoa stressed the importance of sustainable fish production and urged residents to embrace aquaculture as a modern income-generating activity.

Aquaculture is the way forward if we are to end illegal fishing and preserve our water bodies. The ministry is committed to providing training, quality inputs, and market access to fish farmers ready to take this path,” she said.

She assured residents that plans are underway to expand aquaculture initiatives, supply quality fingerlings, and strictly enforce guidelines against illegal fishing practices.

Encouraging Youth & Community Participation

The Minister encouraged youth groups and community leaders in Kateta to organize themselves to benefit from upcoming aquaculture programs. She cited success stories from other Teso sub-region communities that have already adopted fish farming with impressive results.

Local leaders and youth representatives expressed gratitude for her continued engagement, describing her as a leader who listens, supports, and provides practical solutions.

Promoting Peaceful Campaigns

Hon. Adoa used the rallies to call for peaceful, respectful political participation during the campaign season. She strongly discouraged the destruction of opponents’ campaign posters or harassment of rival supporters.

Elections come and go, but as a community we remain one people. Every candidate has a right to campaign, and every voter has a right to choose freely,” she reminded residents.

Her message of tolerance was warmly received, with residents applauding her mature and unifying approach.

Local Leaders Commend Her Leadership

Local authorities and residents praised the Minister for what they described as her hands-on and transformative leadership. They cited improvements in:

  • Education
  • Women and youth empowerment
  • Fisheries development
  • Community welfare
  • Strengthening of NRM structures

Eilu, a youth representative, noted, “Hon. Adoa has been a pillar for the youth. She listens to us and involves us in her programs. We feel represented.

Agwaru William, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Kateta, added that her leadership has improved coordination between local leaders and national offices, reinforcing her influence within the party.

She is a leader who delivers on her promises, and we are proud to stand behind her once again,” he said.
