Pallisa Celebrates Record 6,310 Patriot Graduates as Youth Program Hits Historic Peak

By Alfred Opio
PALLISA — Pallisa District has achieved a major milestone in youth empowerment following the successful passing out of 6,310 patriots under the National Patriotism Corps, marking the highest number ever recorded in the Bukedi sub-region.
The colorful ceremony, held at Kasodo Technical Institute in Kasodo Sub-county, brought together students, educators, and government leaders to celebrate the rapid growth of the patriotism movement.

The latest graduation reflects a remarkable transformation over the past four years, during which the number of participants surged from just 1,200 to over 6,300.

The majority of the graduates—about 99 percent—were drawn from secondary schools, with additional participation from primary and technical institutions, signaling a growing embrace of discipline and national values among young people.

District leaders attributed the success of the program to the national vision of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, which promotes patriotism, discipline, and service among the youth.
During the event, the District Patriotism Coordinator Mr. Ojanga and several school headteachers commended Resident District Commissioner Majid Dhikusooka for his role in revitalizing the program across schools.

Despite the celebrations, the RDC issued a stern warning to six schools that failed to attend the ceremony, directing them to submit formal apologies or face administrative action.
“Disobedience to national programs will not be tolerated,” he cautioned.

Looking ahead, the RDC announced plans to establish a SACCO for patriot members to improve their economic empowerment and access to development opportunities. He also pledged to engage the Office of the Commissioner for Patriotism led by Hellen Seku to secure uniforms, certificates, and logistical support.

He further called for increased slots for Pallisa youth at the National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi, where advanced patriotism training is conducted.
The ceremony also featured vibrant entertainment from Pal and Lisa Secondary School, adding excitement and celebration to the historic event.
Leaders expressed optimism that the continued growth of the patriotism program will shape a disciplined and responsible generation committed to national development.

As Pallisa sets a new benchmark in youth mobilization, the achievement stands as a strong example of how coordinated leadership and community support can drive transformative change.
