Pallisa District has been ranked the best-performing district in the Bukedi Sub-region for its overwhelming support for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) during the recently concluded 2026 Uganda General Elections.
The Bukedi Sub-region comprises seven districts including Pallisa District, Butebo District, Kibuku District, Budaka District, Butaleja District, Tororo District and Busia District.
The recognition was announced during an electoral review meeting held at City Resort Hotel on March 9, 2026. The meeting brought together party leaders from across the region to evaluate the party’s performance and outline strategies for the 2026–2031 political term.
The meeting was presided over by Barbara Nekesa Oundo, the National Treasurer of the National Resistance Movement, who attended as the Chief Guest.
During the session, Pallisa District was officially recognized as the top-performing district in the region after delivering exceptional results for the ruling party. For the first time in the district’s political history, voters returned an entirely NRM parliamentary caucus, effectively shutting out opposition and independent candidates.
The district was also commended for delivering a landslide victory for Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the presidential race, a development the Chief Guest described as a benchmark for political mobilization in the region.
Addressing delegates during the meeting, Derrick Orone, the NRM Regional Coordinator and Chairperson for Pallisa District, delivered a message from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni following a recent engagement at State House Uganda.
Orone revealed that the President has committed to strengthening party structures through a logistical rollout aimed at improving mobilization across various leadership levels.
Under the arrangement, district NRM chairpersons will receive motor vehicles, sub-county chairpersons will be facilitated with motorcycles, while LC1 village chairpersons will be provided with bicycles to support grassroots mobilization and monitoring of party activities.
Meanwhile, the Resident District Commissioner of Pallisa District, Majid Dhikusooka, cautioned newly elected Members of Parliament that their political survival in the 2031 elections will largely depend on their ability to address the needs of the people.
He urged leaders to remain close to the communities they represent and to closely monitor the implementation of government wealth creation initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
Dhikusooka also called on leaders to prioritize improvements in healthcare services and general service delivery in their constituencies.
In her closing remarks, Barbara Nekesa Oundo commended RDC Majid Dhikusooka for what she described as an excellent and candid presentation during the meeting. She also applauded the NRM leadership in Bukedi Sub-region for demonstrating unity and teamwork throughout the campaign period.
She urged party leaders to maintain the same spirit as the party transitions from campaign mobilization to implementing its manifesto and delivering services to the people.
The meeting concluded with a consensus among party leaders that the focus must now shift from electoral campaigns to effective service delivery to ensure that the victory achieved during the 2026 Uganda General Elections translates into tangible development for the people of the Bukedi Sub-region.
