The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Serere, Mr. Ekoom John Steven, on Saturday represented the Serere District leadership at the burial of the late Opolot Emmanuel, who tragically lost his life in a road accident on November 3, 2025, during President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign rally. The burial took place in Ococwa Village, Atoot Subcounty, Ngora District, drawing hundreds of mourners who gathered to pay their last respects.

According to local authorities, the road accident that claimed Opolot’s life left 18 people injured. Out of the 18 victims, 14 have since been discharged, while four remain admitted at the regional facility.

> “I spoke with the victims in Mbale today,” Ekoom said. “They are improving steadily and remain hopeful. The medical team has done an excellent job in ensuring their recovery.”
