By Wilson Oganan | Friday, February 27, 2026

Police in Amuria District have arrested a 50-year-old man and his nephew in connection with the hacking to death of a relative in what authorities describe as a violent domestic dispute.

The suspects have been identified as Naboth Okiring, 50, and his nephew, Moses Ajat. The two are accused of killing Francis Okiring during an incident that reportedly occurred on February 22, 2026, in Ocal Village, Ocal Parish, Abarilela Sub-county.

According to preliminary investigations, the killing is believed to have stemmed from a long-standing family disagreement that escalated into deadly violence.

Confirming the arrests, Saiga Ibrahim, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, said officers acted swiftly after receiving reports from the community.

“We have arrested a 50-year-old male suspect together with his nephew. Inquiries are ongoing into this brutal domestic murder, which stems from a long-standing family misunderstanding,” Ibrahim said.

Police officers visited and documented the crime scene, collected evidence, and recorded statements from witnesses to support ongoing investigations.

The suspects are currently being detained at Amuria Police Station as detectives continue compiling the case file.

Authorities have urged members of the public to resolve domestic conflicts peacefully and seek mediation through local leaders and law enforcement to prevent similar tragedies.

The body of the deceased was taken for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
