St. Faustine Catholic Church in Pallisa Receives 150 Iron Sheets from Office of the Prime Minister

By Alfred Opio

Christians of St. Faustine Catholic Church Adodoi in Nagule Parish, Puti-Put Sub County, Pallisa District have received a major boost after the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda donated 150 iron sheets to support the roofing of their church building.

The church, which was constructed about four years ago, has been operating without a roof due to limited financial resources. As a result, believers have been conducting prayers in an open space, often facing challenges during harsh weather conditions.

While handing over the iron sheets to newly mobilized Christians at the Pallisa District Headquarters, David Omaido, the Pallisa District Assistant Inventory Management Officer, confirmed that the district received the materials last week from the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda.

Omaido noted that the government under the leadership of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni continues to respond to community needs whenever assistance is requested.

He explained that Christians from St. Faustine Catholic Church Adodoi had earlier written to the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda seeking support, prompting the ministry to respond by sending the iron sheets through the district administration.

“As a Christian, the President has always intervened through the respective ministries whenever communities request for support. When the Christians wrote to the Office of the Prime Minister, their request was considered and 150 iron sheets were sent to the parish through the district,” Omaido said.

He added that even when government materials are intended for non-government projects such as churches, they are delivered through district authorities to ensure proper accountability and transparency before reaching the intended beneficiaries.

Omaido also thanked the district leadership, the Resident District Commissioner’s office, and the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda for ensuring the church received the much-needed support.

According to Omaido, places of worship play an important role in society by offering spiritual guidance and strengthening moral values within communities.

“Providing shelter for believers to worship is important because as leaders we believe God comes first. The church provides spiritual services not only to its members but also contributes to the moral wellbeing of the community,” he added.

Meanwhile, Boniface Omadet, the catechist of the church, expressed gratitude to the government for the timely intervention.

He revealed that Christians had been conducting prayers in the open, which became extremely difficult during rainy seasons.

“We thank the government through the Office of the Prime Minister for supporting us with these iron sheets. Our Christians have been worshipping in an open place and whenever it rains it becomes very challenging. With this support, we shall immediately roof the church and our believers will finally have a proper place of worship,” Omadet said.

During the handover, the Resident District Commissioner of Pallisa District, Majid Dhikusooka, issued a stern warning against the misuse of the donation.

Dhikusooka stressed that the iron sheets must strictly be used for roofing the church as intended, warning that any diversion or misuse would attract legal action.

“This support has been given for a specific purpose and must be used for that purpose. Anyone who attempts to divert these iron sheets will face the full force of the law,” the RDC warned.

The donation is expected to enable the church leadership and believers to complete the roofing works immediately, bringing relief to Christians who have long endured harsh weather conditions while attending prayers.
