Unity Key to Better Service Delivery, Says Outgoing Kumi Deputy Mayor Julius Okello

By Vincent Emong

KUMI — As Kumi Municipality prepares for the swearing-in of newly elected leaders, outgoing Deputy Mayor Julius Okello has called for unity, cooperation, and a forward-looking approach to leadership.

Speaking ahead of the transition, Okello emphasized that effective service delivery depends on collaboration between outgoing and incoming leaders. He noted that both groups bring valuable ideas and experience that, if combined, can significantly benefit the people of Kumi.

“We all have good ideas. When we bring them together, we can achieve much more for the people of Kumi,” Okello said.

He cautioned against divisions and misunderstandings among leaders, warning that such rifts could derail progress and negatively impact development in the municipality.

Okello urged leaders to prioritize teamwork and mutual respect, especially during this transition period, describing it as a critical moment for ensuring continuity in governance.

He also encouraged outgoing leaders to accept the election outcomes and focus on new opportunities, including personal development and income-generating activities, rather than dwelling on past political contests.

“Elections are over. It is time to think about personal growth and how best we can support those taking over leadership,” he added.

The outgoing deputy mayor further called on former leaders to actively support the incoming administration, stressing that cooperation is essential for achieving meaningful progress.

Okello’s remarks highlight the importance of unity in leadership, particularly during transitions, as Kumi Municipality looks to strengthen governance and improve service delivery for its residents.

As the swearing-in ceremony approaches, his message serves as a timely reminder that development is best achieved when leaders work together toward a common goal.
