Akadot Seed Secondary School Receives ICT Boost to Transform Learning in Pallisa

By Alfred Opio

Akadot Seed Secondary School in Pallisa District has received a major boost in its education infrastructure following the official handover of modern ICT equipment, marking a significant step toward digital learning and improved academic performance.

The newly delivered equipment is expected to enhance teaching and learning at the school, aligning with Uganda’s competence-based curriculum, which emphasizes the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across subjects.

According to Pallisa District Inventory Officer David Omaido, the equipment had initially been supplied earlier but remained under district custody until all procedural requirements were fulfilled.

“We had a contract issued by the district to Advanta Uganda, and the equipment was supplied on May 6, 2025. We ensured it was kept safely until the school completed the necessary processes for handover.”

He confirmed that the handover followed proper clearance from relevant authorities, including the District Education Officer and Chief Finance Officer.

Before the delivery, a comprehensive verification process was conducted to ensure all items were intact and functional. The school received 20 computers, a server processor, network switches, a multi-purpose printer, UPS units, a projector, internet infrastructure, CCTV cameras, routers, and other essential ICT accessories.

Omaido emphasized that the equipment is intended to transform the school’s learning environment.

“These are not just items; they are tools meant to bring education closer to the digital age.”

The school’s headteacher, Wilson Okurut Orion, welcomed the development with optimism, noting that the absence of ICT facilities had previously limited students’ access to essential digital skills.

“Our learners have been missing out on ICT lessons. This equipment will bridge that gap and prepare them for the digital world.”

He added that the equipment will also support the school’s efforts to meet requirements set by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) for accreditation as an examination center.

“As we work toward acquiring a UNEB center number, these computers are very important. We shall ensure they are properly installed and used effectively.”

The headteacher further urged both students and teachers to make responsible use of the equipment and called on the community to help safeguard the resources.

Meanwhile, Pallisa District Education Officer Ronald Omutujju cautioned against misuse of the ICT tools, stressing that they are meant for educational purposes.

“The government has invested heavily in ICT. Let us not turn these computers into gaming machines. They should be used for research, learning, and innovation.”
Ronald Omutujju

He encouraged teachers to integrate ICT into their teaching methods and inspire students to use technology to expand their knowledge.

The delivery of ICT equipment to Akadot Seed Secondary School reflects the government’s commitment to improving education standards, especially in seed schools across Uganda. It also highlights the growing importance of digital skills in preparing learners for a competitive, technology-driven world.

With the new infrastructure now in place, the school is set to usher in a new era of digital learning—equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in modern society.
