Pallisa Woman MP-Elect Urges Christians to Uphold Holiness Beyond Easter

By Alfred Opio

The Woman Member of Parliament-elect for Pallisa District, Catherine Achola, has called on Christians to sustain the spirit of holiness, unity, and compassion beyond the Easter season, urging believers to make these values part of their daily lives.

Speaking to the press, Achola commended Christians for observing the Easter period with discipline and devotion, noting that many embraced key teachings such as forgiveness, love, generosity, and prayer.

“Easter is not just a moment we pass through; it is a reminder of how we ought to live every day. Let us not abandon these virtues now that the celebrations are over.”
Catherine Achola

She emphasized that Easter, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is a cornerstone of the Christian faith and should inspire continuous reflection and transformation in both personal and community life.

Achola expressed concern that some believers tend to return to old habits once the Easter season ends, losing the moral and spiritual progress made during the period.

“Holiness should not be seasonal. It should define who we are in our homes and communities.”
Catherine Achola

Beyond spiritual guidance, Achola also addressed family and economic matters, urging married couples to work together to improve their livelihoods. She highlighted the importance of unity and shared responsibility in building stable households.

“Marriage is a partnership. When couples work together with a shared vision, they can overcome many challenges and improve their income.”

She noted that strong families form the foundation of community development, adding that economic empowerment at the household level is key to reducing poverty and promoting growth in Pallisa District.

Community members and religious leaders welcomed her message, describing it as timely and relevant. Many acknowledged that while Easter inspires positive change, maintaining those values requires commitment and consistency.

Religious leaders echoed her call, urging Christians to continue practicing love, humility, and service, noting that true faith is demonstrated through actions rather than words alone.

As communities transition back to normal routines after Easter, Achola’s message stands as a reminder that the essence of the season lies in lasting transformation—spiritually, socially, and economically.

Her appeal reinforces the need for individuals and families to remain committed to positive values, ensuring that the lessons of Easter continue to guide daily life and strengthen unity within society.
