PALLISA — A total of 17 district councilors in Pallisa District have been awarded certificates of recognition for their outstanding performance and dedicated service during their term in office.
The recognition ceremony, organized through the office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), also honored several technical officers and government officials for their contribution to service delivery and development within the district.
Pallisa District has a total of 21 councilors, but only 17 received the certificates after four councilors passed away while still serving in office.
The event attracted district leaders, technical staff, and councilors who gathered to celebrate the commitment and achievements demonstrated by leaders during their five-year term.
Among the technical officers recognized were the district planner, communications officer, Resident District Commissioner (RDC), and other officials who have played significant roles in supporting district programs and administration.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Administrative Officer of Pallisa District, Felix Alex Majeme, praised the councilors for their dedication, sacrifice, and contribution toward the growth and development of the district.
Majeme said the district leadership found it important to appreciate leaders who devoted their time and effort to serving the people of Pallisa despite various challenges encountered during their term.
“We found it necessary to recognize leaders who have served the district with commitment and excellence. Despite the challenges they faced, they remained focused on representing their communities and supporting development programs,” Majeme said.
He encouraged councilors who retained their seats in the recently concluded elections to continue working hard and improve service delivery during the next term of office.
According to Majeme, leadership requires teamwork, sacrifice, and integrity, adding that recognizing hardworking leaders motivates them and inspires others to serve diligently.
Some of the councilors who received certificates expressed gratitude to the district leadership for appreciating their contribution.
John Julius Okaki, the district councilor representing Akisim Sub County, described the recognition as historic and unprecedented in Pallisa District.
“This kind of appreciation has never happened before during my time in leadership. It shows that the district values the work we have done,” Okaki said.
He added that the certificates would motivate leaders to continue working hard in service of the people.
“Many leaders serve without expecting rewards, but appreciation like this gives morale and encouragement,” he noted.
Okaki also appealed to future district administrations to maintain the culture of recognizing both political and technical leaders who perform their duties diligently.
Meanwhile, Filder Rose Oloit, the female district councilor representing Opwateta Sub County, thanked the office of the CAO for organizing the event and called for the recognition exercise to become a routine practice every five years.
“Recognizing leaders strengthens their confidence and improves the relationship between political leaders and technical staff,” Oloit said.
The ceremony ended with calls for unity, accountability, teamwork, and continued commitment toward improving service delivery across Pallisa District.
Leaders who attended emphasized the importance of cooperation between elected leaders and technical staff in promoting development and strengthening public trust in local government.
District officials expressed optimism that the recognition initiative would inspire other public servants to remain dedicated, transparent, and professional while serving their communities.
