Police in Kumi Municipality are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a private security guard who is reported to have taken his own life.
The South Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, Stephen Mukombe , confirmed that officers at Kumi central police station have registered the case and commenced investigations into the incident.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Suleiman Okello , aged about 23, who was attached to Bulwark Security Consultation Limited . He reportedly shot himself at night while on duty at Fahaab Petrol Station in Kumi Municipality.

Mukombe stated that investigations are still in their early stages and more details will be provided once findings are established.

The body of the deceased was taken to Atutur General Hospital for a postmortem examination to help determine more details surrounding the death.
Police have also called upon members of the public, particularly anyone who knows the deceased or his relatives, to report to Kumi Central Police Station to assist with ongoing inquiries.
The incident has raised concern among residents and highlights the need for continued attention to the welfare and mental health of security personnel who often work under challenging conditions.
Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
